Salad Dressing

A lot of salad dressing is made with soy oil, so it is really not an option for most people. However, there are a few brands that make dressing without soy. I like Annie’s French Dressing the best. However, making your own dressing is really easy.

A vinaigrette can obviously be made very easily with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Freshly crushed garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, rosemary, basil, etc. can be added to that as well.

If you are not allergic to dairy, a dressing (or mayonaise substitute) can be mad from plain yogurt in several flavors. Yogurt sauces and drinks are very common with Greek and Indian dishes. Look for recipes for Tzatziki sauce, Raita, and Lassi. You can make your own dressing easily by combining one cup of plain yogurt with garlic, salt, pepper, olive oil to thin it, your favorite seasoning and spices, honey or balasamic vinegar as you like.
