Tips on Saving Money

The specialty food products and allergen free brands for people with food allergies are sometimes too expensive, yet fun to try. When the gas is on the rise and our income is not, it’s really important to try to save money on the food you buy to. I know some people that really do like to spend $5 for a loaf of bread.

I have noticed that not all stores have the same products. To find the brands I want and the best produce I shop at all stores in the area. This may sound unnecessary, but having been raised on Whole Foods Market, Jewel and Dominick’s, by parents who wouldn’t stop in a dollar, I thought I would just remind people that there is no shame in shopping at the dollar stores in your area. Not all dollar stores only sell products for a dollar. Actually, Dollar Tree is my favorite. The selection is interesting, and everything is only $1. Some of them are so large they even have a freezer section with frozen vegetables. Although, Wal-marts generic brand of frozen vegetables may be a better deal because the bags are larger.

So what can you find at a dollar store you are not allergic too? If you can find a Dollar Tree with a freezer section, check out their frozen vegetables and dairy products. I have found Monet crackers, red vines, and sweet potato chips, too. There are quite a number of allergen free snacks, like gummy bears, potato chips that are fried in the right oil, and apple sauce. If you have not been in one in a while, make sure to check out the cleaning supplies, kitchen supplies, and toiletries. They have many name brand products that you can save on, too. Many cereals are allergen free, so you may find what you are looking for at a dollar store, but I prefer to buy the generic brand at Aldi’s or Walmart.
